Millennials do crazy amounts of texting.

  • About 80% of teens carry a cell phone (up from 40% in 2004). Half say that having a cell phone is "key" to their social lives.
  • US teens text 7.5 times more than they call.
  • US teens had the highest levels of text messaging in Q2 2008, sending and receiving an average of 1,742 texts per month.
  • 42% of teenagers with cell phones claim that they can write text messages while blindfolded.

They're receptive to SMS Advertising

  • Teens are most likely age group to engage with short-code marketing. 35% see some form of text message advertising in the course of a month.
  • Of those who have seen ads, 45% say they have responded in some way. The most popular response is through sending another text message.
